Types of Christians
Scripture reveals eight types of Christians based upon their primary character. Only two of these characteristics—those that align with being a spiritual Christian—should ever be part of our lives. When the others appear, we must recognize them and take the proper steps to return to being a Spiritual Christian who is maturing. A Christian can exist in one of two primary states: we are either spiritual—led by the Spirit—or carnal—following the desires of our flesh. Carnality manifests in various ways, leading to an inability to clearly articulate the faith—accurately explain what they believe. When Christians are spiritual, they begin to mature and understand the truth. This process enables them to walk in the light and come to a full experiential knowledge of the Son of God.
A spiritual Christian. But the one who is Spiritual discerns all things, and by no one is discerned (1 Corinthians 2:15).
A spiritual Christian is someone who is emanating the things of the Spirit by paying attention to the desires from the Spirit, seeking to fulfill them, and governing the manner of life by the Spirit—being led by the Spirit.
A maturing Christian. But solid food is for the mature, the ones through the practice, while training the senses, have discernment toward proper and wrong (Hebrews 5:14); And we speak wisdom to the mature, but not the wisdom of this age nor of the ruler of this age, the one passing away, but we speak a wisdom from God in a mystery, the one hidden, which the God determined before the ages unto a proper opinion of us (1 Corinthians 2:6-7).
A maturing Christian is someone who is Spiritual and through practice is training their senses to know God’s will in any situation. They gain experiential knowledge of their position in Christ and possessions in Salvation by living them out.
A carnal (soulish) Christian. 2 Corinthians 3:1-3; Galatians 5:19-21; 1 Corinthians 2:14 But the soulish man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for the are foolishness to him and he does not have the inherent ability to know, because they are Spiritually discerned.
A carnal Christian is someone who lives by the desires of the flesh, functioning primarily from their soul—driven by emotions—which leads them to produce the works of the flesh.
An ensnared Christian. … and they may come to their senses out from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his desirous will (2 Timothy 2:26).
An ensnared Christian is a carnal Christian who does the will of Satan, mistakenly believing it to be the right thing to do. Their primary characteristic is a sense of independence from God, characterized by attempting actions so ambitious that, without God's support, they are bound to fail.
A Galatianite Christian (Bewitched to not obey the gospel of the Christ), Galatians 3:1-3.
A Galatianite is a carnal Christian who lives by the law. They reject living by faith and grace, choosing instead to let the law dictate their actions. These laws are often imposed on them by external authorities or influences, with the intent of demonstrating righteousness in the eyes of others.
A Christian Who is a Lover of this Present Evil Age (loves debating). For Demas abandoned me, having a love for this age and traveled to Thessalonica… (2 Timothy 4:10)
A lover of this present evil age is a carnal Christian that loves to debate (1 Corinthians 1:20). Debating is not about the truth, but about who has the most persuasive argument.
A Christian Who is a Conformer to the Legal Age (Masquerades as one who is under law). And stop being outwardly conformed to this age, but to be transformed by your renewed mind, for the purpose to test for approval what is the desirous will of God, the good and well pleasing and mature (Romans 12:2).
A conformer to the Legal Age is a carnal Christian who loves to masquerade like someone who is under the Mosaic Law.
A Christian Who is a Lover of the World System (Directs love at the world). Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If someone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him (1 John 2:15).
A lover of the World System is a carnal Christian who loves the world. They prioritize the world over other Christians, often giving what belongs to the church to unbelievers, as if it were an act of love. They involve themselves in community activities, often neglecting the needs of their own assembly.
