But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent thoroughly deceived Eve by his cunning, thus, the conclusion of your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity and the purity in the Christ (2 Corinthians 11:3).
The Christ is the new creation that God brought into being when He raised Christ from the dead. All who are in the Christ are part of this new creation, in which Christ is the head and the Church is His body (2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 1:22–23). Believers do not become a new creation or creature, as some teach in an effort to corrupt the conclusions of the mind from the simplicity of the Christ.
When we believe the Gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1–4), we are placed into the body of the Christ by immersion from the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:13). In the Christ, there are no divisions; we are all part of one body (Galatians 3:28). As members of one body, we are called to express love toward one another and to edify the body (John 13:34; 1 Corinthians 12:24).
Humans are not individual creations of God; we are all part of one act of creation (Genesis 2:7). Thus, we have a head. As unbelievers, our head was Adam, who brought death upon all through his sin (1 Corinthians 15:21–22). In contrast, through Christ’s obedience, all who are in the Christ are made alive unto God. Therefore, those who are in Christ are no longer under condemnation, for His death and resurrection have been imputed to us, enabling us to walk in newness of life (Romans 8:1; 6:4–6).
