And the world is passing away, and its strong desires, but the one doing the desirous will of God abides into the age (1 John 2:17).
Do not let the things of this world overcome your mind and distract you from the things that matter. This includes our careers, along with the possessions we acquire. Although we are no longer out from the world, having been crucified to it in Christ, we have not been called to separate from it. Rather, as luminaries living among a corrupt and perverse generation, we are to use the world but not abuse it. This is accomplished by knowing and doing the will of God. Do you know what God’s desirous will is for a Christian? His will does not change, even though the world and its desires are constantly shifting around us. Therefore, the one who does the desirous will of God will feel at ease in the age to come, when righteousness rules.
