Spirit Beings
The Different Types of Spirit Beings
Cherubim
The highest order of the spirit beings. There are ones with four faces, two faces, and one face. Ezekiel 10:1-22.
Seraphim
These spirit beings are seen around the throne of God and described as having six wings. Isaiah 6:2, 6; Revelation 4:8.
Angels
This rank of spirit beings are the messengers. They are involved in the day to day activities of both heaven and earth. 1 Kings 19-23; Daniel 10:13; Hebrews 1:14.
Satan
Satan is a Cherub whose name was Lucifer (Ezekiel 28:14; Isaiah 14:12). Satan is at this time the god of this age (2 Corinthians 4:4 [in the Greek]). He is the originator and keeper of the world system (John 14:30; Luke 11:50, 51; 1 John 5:19). He is an adversary of Christians (1 Timothy 5:14; 1 Peter 5:8; Ephesians 6:11). He still has access to the third heaven where he goes before God and accuses the brethren (Revelation 12:10; Job 1:6).
Creation of Spirit Beings
All Spirit beings were created in one act and were created fully mature (Job 38:7).
Present Duties of the Unfallen Angels
The angels that did not follow after Lucifer minister to the heirs of salvation (Hebrews 1:14). They are the messengers of God (Matthew 1:20; Revelation 14:6). They carry out the judgments of God (1 Chronicles 21:12, 15). They protect God’s People (Daniel 6:22).
The Fallen Angels
One third of the angels fell with Satan (Revelation 12:4). They are presently known as demons (Matthew 9:32 [in the Greek]). They have the ability to cause physical sickness in people (Matthew 17:18; Matthew 15:22). They have the ability to possess an unsaved person (Matthew 12:22). Satan and demons cannot touch a Christian (1 John 5:18). They still have access to the third heaven and are required to present themselves at certain times before God (1 Kings 22:19-22).
