Not that according to need I speak, for I on my part have learned in which I am, to be content.  I intuitively know also to be humble. I intuitively know also to abound in all, and in all I am in a state of having been initiated; both to be satisfied and to hunger; both to prosper and to lack. I am strong in all things in Christ, the one empowering me. – Philippians 4:11-13

Joyful is being content in any situation. This comes from an understanding of who we are in Christ, and what type of relationship we now have with God.

Wealth, or the lack thereof, has nothing to do with our relationship with God.  We can show forth a proper opinion (glorify) God in whatever condition we are in. Yes, there are times where we suffer, whether through being crippled, maimed, or even being sickly. Yet, as Paul so clearly stated, For I reckon that the suffering of the present time are not worthy facing the glory about to be revealed unto us. – Romans 8:18.

We have a hope that makes life different for us. Remember, hope is always based upon a promise. It is not a matter of if, but when, for the One giving use the promise is faithful to complete what He said He would do.

But we have this treasure in clay pots, in order that the exceeding inherent ability may be from God and not out from us – 2 Corinthians 4:7.

I am strong in all things – showing forth a proper opinion of God in my life in any situation – through Christ who empowers me.
